The Process

Well first congrats to all the participants and just anyone playing the games.

Just an overview of the 48 hours. Unity Project.
I work overnights so starting at 9 PM local time is a blessing.
I do now have a solid code base that I have been working on so nice benefit I am not used to having.
The Code-base is generic menu with standard options / Cinemachine cameras /  save/ load custom player controller with generic player attributes / level editor that lets me add power-ups and weapons fairly easily. Although can be a little bit of a curse too as I had existing bugs to deal with instead of creating new ones from scratch.
I worked through the night. I had a pretty good idea early on because I could base it on an idea I had for Brackeys Game Jam called Holes. (Unfortunately an idea was a far as that went)

Save the robots that were trapped in the Holes (They didn't end up looking like robots) and save the world. Although there is a twist ending that I didn't get too.
I used Archimatix to lay out a map with different areas but it just ended up being generic block sections that I could have done with Unity editor. I am pretty weak at level design so I just pretty much randomly laid out holes and had the "enemy" ratings randomized. Then post-processing with some generic lighting.

After three and a half hours of sleep, the three S's (Guess) and breakfast with my wife.  I started up again around 10:30AM
I then used Maya LT to create a player model that would be used for all characters. I just scaled them differently. I knew full textures weren't happening so just went with black shade and then just some emission to give some shine to the other colors. This actually happened accidentally.  I also created a texture that you won't notice from a picture of toilet paper I took (yep) for the walls. Used substance alchemist to easily create a material. First time using it and very impressed.
I plugged everything in. Coded with the focus one enemy tactics and decisions and fixed bugs until 6.

After an hour and a half break I went through hell just to get the area completions to trigger properly. It's now midnight. I have to move on for now even though I am bad at doing that because I just think about the issue but I manage. It may be a good idea to animate so I used U-Motion animation plugin. It's a great tool that I am very comfortable with so I can work with it fast. It's now 4am. I create a couple of boring particles and powerup graphics and call it a night..or is it a day???

Crash pretty hard and wake up at 10. Breakfast kind of and clean up what I have done so far.. Now I need to modify all menus and tweak the player controller and camera to match the game..around 12 or so I make a list of what I need to fix and add still. 13 items on the list ends up with 3 done when complete. I pull out Chordbot to make 5 songs (more like repeating chords). Some make it into the game. an hour and a half later and I spend an hour on Chiptune to make some crappy sounds.. I plug everything in. Bang crash. GTFO. fix one thing something else wrong. Wow it's 5 now. Forgot I have a dog. Decided to make believe it is a cat for the rest of the day so it can take care of itself. Wife asks about my sugar level and how I am feeling. What? I am diabetic. Getting delirious. I regroup.

Everything fixed for so much for the twist and Boss Battle..Spoiler alert.....with the NPC's...Now only time to add basically copy of areas so little variety now.. Really wanted more balance.. Need to test too.. Test and running fairly well.. Problem now is I can't beat the game so I make it easy temporarily and I get by. Boring end screen and all. So tweak. Play. Miraculously caught and fixed some isssues.. Barely breathing now though.. So much for toilet paper power-ups..I give up.. No instructions. Just three lines on the page..Good luck.. Nap while Unity builds..Lose track of time. I think I took the dog out???  Somewhere along the line I grabbed some screenshots.. Stuck one on the menu. Hand written scribble and all.. Posted builds and game to itch around 8:45 and LD around 9:45.. I am missing a lot in between but there you have it :)

Looking forward to feedback. In the meantime done writing. Time to play your games.
